The King Tiger (Konigstiger) or Tiger II was a German heavy tank, an evolution of the Tiger I. Its most obvious external characteristics were the inclined armor (following the same scheme as the Panther) and a more powerful cannon.
One of the curiosities of this tank is that the German high staff asked the Porsche company and the Henschel company to develop its turret with the intention of keeping the best model. Porsche was so convinced that its design would be the one finally chosen that it was not content with just manufacturing the prototype but finished 60 of these turrets. Finally, Henschel was the winning design but the Porsche units were not scrapped and were used to be mounted on 60 Tiger II.
