Box with 36 assorted oil sticks Sennelier.
Oil sticks are a transposition of oil paint. Part of the oil has been replaced by a neutral mineral wax to give them the appearance of a stick.
The quality of these colours is very fine: the pigments are ground with vegetable oils (drying oils), selected for their low yellowing over time. This selection and the high concentration of pigments allow excellent light resistance. These colours are applied directly on traditional oil paint supports (oily or universal) and require quality preparation of the backgrounds.
Supports: canvases for painting, cardboard with fabric, prepared posters, paper for painting. Solid oil paint should be applied in a fairly thin layer (not exceeding 1 mm). It is superimposable like oil paint in paste form and can be diluted with petroleum essence or turpentine if necessary. Before use, it is necessary to peel off the surface layer. It will reform after a few days of non-use. The applied paint dries within 2 to 5 days, depending on the thickness of the layer and atmospheric conditions. A colourless medium is available which allows for transparent and glazed effects.
Extra-fine solid colours have opaque or transparent shades depending on the nature of the pigments used. The product keeps very well over time and does not require any particular precautions other than avoiding heat sources which could alter it.
Once dry, the paint is varnished like a traditional oil paint after at least 6 months of drying, with a final varnish for paintings.
