The Schwerer Wehrmachtschlepper (sWS) vehicle was designed as a medium half-track to transport supplies and light artillery to the front, but its versatile cargo compartment also made it a platform for the 150 mm Nebelwerfer 42 rocket launcher.

This vehicle, originally intended for fog generation, was adapted to fire high-explosive rockets. It was reinforced with additional armor to protect the crew from both enemy fire and rocket effects.
